Speaking of penmanship in my last post ... we have been trying Draw Write Now, both books 1 and 6. We chose 1 as a starting point and then picked up 6 to go along with our Pagoo studies. I have mixed feelings on Draw Write Now. I don't feel the true teaching of drawing with this that I do with Drawing with Children. We've completed several lessons, and I'm not sold just yet. A strong, homeschool Art and Drawing curriculum seems to be the most difficult curriculum to settle on. I'd love to see comments with ideas and suggestions.

So ... please share with me your thoughts and experiences with DWN. Or, maybe you use an art/drawing program that you LOVE and want to share.
Because of Him.
We tackled a pig, goose, dolphin, and frog over the past week.
The frog was painful, but for my dysgraphic preschooler, it did feel like her fine motor skills were being polished.

Hey gal. We've been using Draw Write Now for the first time right now. It's been great for Ab while he is still playing catch up on english and handwriting.
ReplyDeleteA couple of art programs we have used or done is Meet the Masters (a great one--Ab is taking this class in our co-op and loves it)
we have also done How Great Thou Art http://www.howgreatthouart.com/
The pictures are precious!!
Hi Charisa! Ooh, thank you for your ideas. I'm going to look at Meet the Masters. At first glance it is lovely and might be really perfect for us. We tried HGTA this year and didn't fall in love with it. MFW suggests I Can Do All Things from Stebbing for next year, but I'd like to wait for HGTA for God and the History of Art, which we'll start in fourth grade. Maybe Meet the Masters will fill our niche. :) Thank you! Court date yet? xo
ReplyDeleteI'm using the MFW recommendations right now, but I just came across a review for this the other day and thought it looked really, really good!!

It's called Art Class, and it is Christian-based and looks like lots of fun! Plus, since it's on a DVD, *THEY* do the instructing for you! WOO HOO! Like I said, though, I just read a review; I've never used it. But it might be something worth looking into anyway! :)
Wow, this looks really neat! I'm going to have to spend some time on her site and try a few of the lessons. I am not an artist so this might be a good option. :) Thank you for the idea! :)
